Do you care about your health? Of course you do! If so, then you should make turmeric a part
of your daily diet. In this video, we will talk about this delicious
Asian spice. You’ll learn what turmeric is and what the
health benefits are that you can get from it. Make sure you watch until the very end. Turmeric is a tall plant that is commonly
found in Central America and Asia and is also known as Indian saffron. The ground root of the plant is used to make
turmeric spice, which is used as a main ingredient in curry and other Asian dishes. The main active ingredient in turmeric is
curcumin, which is responsible for the spice’s bright yellow color. But it also has anti-inflammatory properties
and has traditionally been used in Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine to treat a variety
of conditions. Here are seven health conditions for which
turmeric has been shown to be helpful if taken daily: 1. Osteoarthritis. Research has shown that turmeric can help
reduce pain in people suffering from knee osteoarthritis. By helping to reduce swelling and inflammation
in the joints, it can help restore mobility. In fact, some research has indicated it may
be as effective as some drugs prescribed for the condition. 2. Type-2 diabetes. Studies have shown that curcumin may decrease
blood glucose levels and could help prevent diabetes. 3. High cholesterol levels. Turmeric has been shown to lower triglyceride
levels. Triglycerides are a type of fat that comes
from oils, butter and other foods you eat. Having high levels of this body fat can increase
your risk of developing heart disease. Studies have shown that turmeric may even
be comparable to common prescription drugs such as Lipitor. 4. Depression. Studies have shown that turmeric may be effective
in treating major depressive disorder, referred to as MDD. People with MDD have greater oxidation and
inflammatory stress, which affects the brain and other major organs. By reducing chronic inflammation, turmeric
can increase levels of neurotransmitters such as dopamine or serotonin, and help improve
mood. In fact, turmeric may even be at par with
antidepressants such as Prozac. 5. Obesity. Animal studies have shown that curcumin can
suppress fat tissue growth. It also reduces the inflammation associated
with obesity, meaning it can improve the effectiveness of your weight loss diet. 6. Brain health. Research has shown that taking turmeric regularly
can help reduce the declines in cognitive functioning that naturally occurs, as you
grow older. It can increase levels of the protein brain-derived
neurotropic factor or BDNF, which is shown to help the brain make new connections. Hence, it helps improve memory problems due
to aging. 7. Cancer. Studies have shown that taking turmeric regularly
may be helpful in managing cancer. Research conducted in animals has shown that
turmeric may inhibit the growth of tumors and may even kill tumor cells. It may be most beneficial with skin, breast,
stomach and bowel cancers. These are just some of the conditions for
which turmeric has been proven to be helpful. So, be sure that you take your turmeric daily. To be safe, it is recommended that you take
no more than 8 grams a day. For added reassurance, talk with your doctor
before you start taking turmeric, particularly if you are taking any prescription medications. If you like this video and found it useful,
