How to Cook Brown Rice with Turmeric a HEALTHY DELICIOUS Arroz Integral by Chef Pachi
Hi! I’m Pachi the Colombian cook. And I’m
gonna bring to you some magical realism from my hometown, and it will come out as a beautiful brown rice that all separates and is delicious! This is brown rice with its shell and everything on it, and it’s super simple to make. Basically, we’re gonna add the rice to the pot. We’re
gonna add about a half a teaspoon of turmeric. We’re gonna add a teaspoon of salt and a couple of teaspoons of olive oil. So one… there’s two… and we’re gonna add two cups of water but make sure they’re full to the brim because this rice needs a little more time to cook.
Perfect! Now we have two cups of water. Now we mix this and we are going to bring it to
a boil. Put on high… And as soon as this boils, we are going to
cover it. And leave it covered and unopened for 50 minutes (five zero). After those 50
minutes, the rice is perfectly done and ready to be eaten. Cover the pot, and we are gonna put it in
low and wait 50 minutes (five zero), and in 50 minutes, it’s gonna be completely ready and perfect! Okay, so now we have our brown rice ready. It’s yellow of course because we added some turmeric. That’s gonna add so much aroma and flavor, and what you see on top are fresh peppercorns. So it’s gonna be a little bit
on the spicy side, but you don’t have to add the peppercorns. I just added them because I wanted them to be beautiful with a little bit of oregano on top which you can also add inside. I happen to have one of those black peppercorns, so they are spicy. This is perfect. Nobody would ever know it’s brown rice, and it’s
so much healthier and it looks identical to the regular rice that we can make everyday from our homes.
