Perry Health Connection – Nutrition Therapy

One of the aspects I love about working at
Perry Memorial Hospital is being able to provide outpatient medical nutrition therapy or nutrition
counseling. There are so many different reasons why someone
might come to see me for an outpatient visit. Maybe it’s someone trying to control their
blood sugar, or manage their blood pressure, or just trying to make lifestyle changes for
them for long term. Making those healthy lifestyle changes can really
benefit you to the point where you can prevent certain chronic illnesses or diseases or help maybe
decrease the amount of medication you are taking for some of those things. The most common instance I can think of is
when someone has diabetes and they come see me for an outpatient visit we talk about how
we can help control their blood sugar levels just with nutrition and exercise. That’s a big deal to be able to decrease those
risks of heart disease and other complications that come along with diabetes. I really love to be able to help those patients. Anyone who comes to see me will be able to
set goals that are personally related for them and be able to motivate them to make
those healthy lifestyle changes. Seeing a Dietitian is really something you
can do for yourself and help to live a healthier lifestyle for you.
