Hi! I’m Cara from Health Home and Happiness Happiness here we are talking about what least restrictive diet you can have that gives you the healing that you need and gives you the energy and the mental clarity to live the life that you want without being overly restrictive and today we’re going are going to talk about the nourishing traditions diet this is traditional Whole Foods this is you can see my book is well-loved it’s the first kind of my introduction when I went from eating corndogs and otter pops – and Yoplait yogurt that was of course made with aspartame – real Whole Foods was with nourishing traditions I did this while I was pregnant with my first child there’s something about being pregnant that just opens up that I don’t think I can put this in my body anymore thing for us and so nourishing traditions is all full of the benefits of real food there’s all of these kind of anecdotes and stories in the side and simple recipes that use whole foods that a lot of us aren’t if we are used to using like cream of mushroom soup and everything and pasta and everything you can learn how to cook from scratch how to cook whole nutrient-dense foods in here so nourishing traditions is best for people that don’t understand yet that fat is good and why fat is good because they will tell you like 9 million times in this book how fat is good and why it is good and why the studies are wrong nourishing traditions is good for people that don’t have any real significant health problems so if you don’t have something you’re trying to fix with a specific dietary protocol you’re just trying to generally be healthier overall provide your body with the nutrients it needs then nourishing traditions is great for you nourishing traditions nourishing traditions is great for people that generally feel like they’re healthy and maybe you have a baby and you want to feed your baby healthier than you grow up it’s a great source for baby food and this is what I started my daughter on before we did the more restrictive gaps diet protocol because she did have autism or we need to autism recovery so that’s who that’s what nourishing traditions is good for it is of all of the ways of eating can heal leaky gut it definitely and it does heal leaky gut because it provides those permits and so fermenting food is a traditional method of food storage where we are adding salt and we’re just kind of cultivating ware so the salt kills the bad bacteria we’re cultivating the good bacteria and this is we have some fermented food every day this just keeps our good bacteria in our gut those friendly bacteria that preserved like the pickles and preserve the beet kvass and that kind of thing they also are really friendly for our gut and they help us digest our food they help kind of buffer between food and our digestive system and our bloodstream and so that’s where ferments can come into play if you have very mild like mild eczema that maybe only comes up a couple times a year mild like just kind of a little bit of brain fog or a little bit of low energy nourishing traditions is probably might be all that you need to do is just add some of those fermented foods into your diet get rid of some of the processed foods out of your diet and your body will kind of balance itself and so that’s where nourishing traditions works to heal leaky gut and if you see it needs something more intense the gut psychology gaps diet really does build off of all the principles of nourishing traditions with that beneficial fermented food but it also eliminates inflammatory food that is feeding the bad the bad microbiome no that is in your gut already and so if you feel like you need something more intense than nourishing traditions then you can probably check out the gaps diet which I’ll link to at the end of this video and if you need something that’s not even as in tons of nourishing traditions because you are freaked out about eating liver which she’s going to talk about a lot in there or you’re freaked out about fermenting which is soaking your greens then you might like the Paleo diet a little bit more it’s a little bit more choose-your-own-adventure kind of diet and then you could add in some gluten free grains maybe just eliminate gluten because that will solve a lot of people as a lot of people are sensitive people run the Paleo diet and then add in some other gluten-free grains and sort of make the diet your own so we’re talking about what your least restrictive diet is that can give you everything that you want out of life support your way of living and not we’re kind of looking for eat to live not live to eat sort of method here so that’s what this series is about it’s going to look different for everyone and if you want to join me we’re gonna keep talking about it and a little bit thank you so much I’ll talk to you later okay
