– Hello! It is I, Candice. (mouth chomping) Hey guys, today on the Edgy
Veg I’m going to show you how to make one of my favorite appetizers, a delicious baked spinach dip. Perfect for the holidays. Perfect for a New Year’s party. Perfect for a birthday party. Really, a dinner party, any party that you are throwing
where you need a cheesy, delicious, creamy dip. This spinach dip has got your back. (upbeat music) Alright guys, I’m obsessed
with this spinach dip. It is so creamy and cheesy and delicious. The flavors are just mwah! And I mean it has spinach in it so it’s a health food, right? Right? Yes, let’s just go with that. Don’t feel bad about consuming
an entire bag of this stuff. All right, the first thing we are going to do (clears throat). Wow. Drink more eggnog, Candice. The first thing we are going to do is heat a pan over medium-high heat and heat up one tablespoon of cooking oil. I like to use coconut or avocado for this. Today, I’m using avocado. To the hot oil, I’m going to
add three cloves of garlic, and I’m going to cook that
for about one to three minutes until the garlic is fragrant and starting to brown a little bit but not too much. You don’t wanna burn it. Once your carlic is, carlic? Once our garlic is cooked, we are going to add in
one package of frozen, but not thawed, spinach. Give that a good cook for
about five to seven minutes. You really want the garlic
to infuse into the spinach. While the garlic is cooking, let’s take out our blender and make the creamy part of this dip. I am going to use a combo of
cashews and also silken tofu. All right, to a blender I’m going to add one cup of silken tofu, three-quarter cups of soaked cashews, one to two tablespoons of tapioca starch. I like to start with
one and see how it goes. If your silken tofu is especially watery, you might need to two tablespoons to give it that like
thick, cheesy consistency. But so far every time I’ve made it, one tablespoon has been enough for me. Then I’m going to add one
tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, a quarter cup of nutritional yeast, one teaspoon onion powder, half
a teaspoon of garlic powder, and half a teaspoon of salt. Blend that until it’s smooth. Okay, give that a good taste and see if it’s salty enough for you. Depending on a lot of
different things (laughs), you might want it more salty, less salty. Just give it a good taste. Once it tastes like an
authentic, creamy, cheesy dip, that’s the flavor that you want. Okay, so we have our
cream base for our dip, and we have our spinach. Now we need some cheese. You can do this without a vegan cheese if you don’t have access to one or you don’t like to use it. And then I ask you what is wrong with you? I like to use a mozzarella style or just use the grain block. I find that it melts
really, really nicely. So I’m just gonna grate that. We need about half a cup, and then we’re gonna
mix this all together. Just, you know, grating cheese. Everyone knows how to do this. Super difficult. I love this cheese ’cause
it melts really nicely. I use this in the pizza video when I did the stuffed-crust pizza. This stuff spreads really, really nicely. Kinda looks like Play-Doh though. It’s really delicious, though. I promise. So we have our bowl. Going to add in the cream base. Get all that goodness in there. To that, I’m going to add
one teaspoon of dried dill. If you only have fresh dill, amazing! How did that happen for you? But you can add about a
tablespoon if it’s fresh. Then I’m going to add a
splash of black pepper, about a quarter cup. A quarter cup? That’s a lot of pepper. About a quarter teaspoon of
freshly cracked black pepper. And just going to mix that together. And you can make this ahead. If you have Christmas dinner and you want to make the actual dip part ahead of time, you can make it up until the baking, and then keep it in the fridge. And then the next day, all the flavors will mix really, really nicely, and then you just have
to throw it in the oven. So makes Christmas dinner
a little bit easier. Now we are going to add in our
spinach and just mix that in. If you could not eat at
this particular moment while mommy’s filming, that
would be great. (laughs) Do you have to do that right now? Okay, so we mix in the spinach. Now we’re going to add
in half of our cheese. It’s about half a cup, but definitely leave enough so that there’s a nice,
cheesy layer on top. Oh, and I almost forgot. This is totally optional,
but I love the addition of about two dashes or a quarter teaspoon of vegan Worcestershire. Just find it adds a nice body to the dip. A nice body? I don’t know, like a more
robust flavor if you will. Mix that together and then we’re gonna throw it into our baking dish. She’s so interested. This is not for you. Once that’s all mixed together, I’m going to transfer
this to an oven-safe dish and I’m going to top it with an additional half cup of vegan cheese shreds. Again, if you don’t have
vegan cheese shreds, you can leave it out. All right, I’ve heated my oven
to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, and I am going to cook this
guy for about 25 minutes or until my cheese and my dip
is nice and bubbly and melted. All right, there you go! Now you can serve that with
toasted baguettes or chips, or pita chips or vegetables,
whatever you want. Or just eat it with a spoon on its own. It’s freakin’ delicious! I hoe you guys enjoy it. (upbeat music) Again, this thing is
perfect as an appetizer. Or, you know, when you’re
having a holiday party and people are coming and you’re not quite ready for dinner yet, but you’re all drinking wine. You can throw this guy on the table and people can kinda graze
and snack as they want. It’s perfect for that. All right guys, I hope
you like this recipe. It’s one of my personal favorites, so I really hope that you enjoyed it. If you liked it, make sure to give this video a big thumbs up.
